PRESS RELEASE

TERRY WATERS ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR ALABAMA STATE SENATE, DISTRICT 22

ROBERTSDALE, AL — Alabama farmer, veteran, and small business owner Terry Waters announces his candidacy for Alabama State Senate, District 22. Waters is a lifelong resident of the Robertsdale area and has deep roots across the district he hopes to represent.

Waters is a product of the same dirt he walks on to this day, being raised on a family farm where faith, family, and hard work were not just values — they were his way of life. Growing up, he learned early that no one is entitled to anything and that success comes from putting in the work and doing right by others.

Just 25 days after graduating from Robertsdale High School, Waters made the decision to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Leaving behind his family and his home, he answered a call to service that would inevitably shape his life, values, and work ethic for decades to come.

After completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, Waters was stationed in Fulda, Germany, where he served just three miles away from the East–West German border during a critical time in world history. He witnessed firsthand the stark contrast between freedom and government control, including the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. That experience helped form Waters’ strong belief in freedom, personal responsibility, and limited government.

“Seeing socialism up close was eye-opening,” Waters said. “It’s something I never imagined would even be discussed seriously here at home, which is why as a State Senator, I want to fight against these same policies generations of Americans have fought to prevent.”

After completing his military service, Waters returned home to South Alabama, where he continued farming, helped build a successful family nursery business, and raised his

family with his wife, Anita. Today, the family business is a multi-generation operation, and Waters remains actively involved in agriculture and his local community.

Waters says his decision to run for State Senate is linked to his desire to serve the people of District 22 — not special interests or career politicians.

“I’ve never run for office before,” Waters said. “But to me, I believe this role should be a voice in Montgomery for everyday people — our farmers, veterans, first responders, small business owners, and working families.”

District 22 includes portions of Mobile County, Escambia County, Baldwin County, and all of Washington County.

Waters emphasized that his campaign will focus on being accessible, protecting Alabama’s conservative values, supporting the farming community, standing up for veterans and first responders, advocating for funding to be brought back to the district, and keeping government accountable to the people it serves.

“I love the State of Alabama,” Waters said. “This is my home, and I want to make sure it’s a place that our kids and grandkids can be proud of.”
